Married & Family Ministry
South Cities has an exciting Married and Family Ministry that is committed to growing in our relationships with God and one another!
The Marrieds have planned activities throughout the year that encourages couples to have great times together.
We plan date nights and family nights together that help to build our faith in God and produce a deeper love for one another. We believe that if the foundations of our marriages are strong, we will build strong, loving, and faithful families.
When God created marriage and the family, He had a specific purpose in mind. To be “united” in such a way as to “become one flesh” (Gen 2:24) suggests a union that is deep and meaningful; a connection that transforms two individuals into a unified whole. This sounds similar to the description of God Himself: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three persons, yet One God.
In Genesis 1:27, God describes how man was made “in the image of God.” Is it possible, then, even likely, that when God created mankind, He created us to seek connection with others?
As with our beginnings from infancy when as babies we would seek connection with our parents, we are in a lifelong search for meaningful connections to others. The Genesis story describes the most significant of adult connections: that of one spouse with the other.
If we are made to connect with one another, why is maintaining such a connection so difficult? Shouldn’t it come naturally? Why do so many marriage connections fail? The answer, of course, is sin. The fall of man threw God’s whole creation out of kilter. Our human shortcomings create roadblocks and hurdles in the path to developing God’s image in our human lives. Overcoming our failures is hard work.
The goal of our Married ministry is to provide encouragement and resources to help you in your personal fight to restore God’s image in your life. We believe that through faith and working together, we will see God’s work displayed in our lives in wonderful ways!
